By Michael Coppinger at ringside in Washington, D.C: It was not long ago that Anthony The Messenger Thompson, 26, was one of the mostly highly touted prospects in the sport. Winner of the 2000 National Golden Gloves at welterweight and 2001 United States Amateur champion, Thompson was quickly signed by famed boxing manager Cameron Dunkin. Somewhere along the way, Thompsons career hit a snag, with an upset loss to future Contender Season 2 winner Grady Brewer.
