Haye and Macca set for war

David Haye and Enzo Maccarinelli insists they are "ready for war" as they prepares for the cruiserweight showdown at O2 Arena.

Haye will put his WBC and WBA cruiserweight titles on the line, while Welshman Maccarinelli arrives as the WBO champion.

An action-packed fight - the biggest all-British world title fight for 15 years - seems guaranteed, with both men possessing immense punching power but questionable chins.

And both fighters are confident that it is them that will leave the ring as the undisputed champion.

Haye, who won his belts after clambering off the floor to hammer Jean-Marc Mormeck to seventh-round defeat in Paris, said: "I knocked Mormeck out and a couple of days later I went straight back into training camp.

"I have got rid of every last bit of fat around my organs. I am pure, lean muscle and I am ready for war.

Force

"I have eaten only organic food for nine months and it will show on Saturday night. For the Mormeck fight I was about 70 per cent and for this fight I am going to be 100 per cent, and you will see it from the first punch I throw.

"I haven't struggled too hard to get down for this fight.

"I'm positive they were banking on me being a spent force at 14st 4lbs.

"When I said I wasn't going to fight at cruiserweight any more, that's when they took the fight."

While Haye has stuck to a rigid training regime that has seen him put in the hours in the gym through the night to help customise to the expected 3am start, Maccarinelli has had a more relaxed approach to the fight.

Maccarinelli said: "I've watched Gladiator tons of times. Boxing's the ultimate gladiatorial battle.

"It's not like football or rugby where you can hide behind the rest of the team if you have a bad day.

"This is going to be a war from the first bell. It's going to go down in history. I couldn't care less what he's done, but I've done everything right and my mind and my body are strong.

"I could go through the spiel every champion comes out with that it's the strongest I've ever been and the hardest I'm ever punching, but I think you all know how ready I am for this fight without me having to spell it out."

Both fighters easily made the 14st 4lbs limit - with Haye coming in 2lbs under while Maccarinelli had 3lbs to spare
