Fight Preview: Wladimir Klitschko vs. Sultan Ibragimov

This coming Saturday night on February 23 at 9:30 PM. ET/ 6:30 PM PT on HBO, from New York's Madison Square Garden, the first heavyweight unification title fight since 1999 is set to take place as Wladimir Klitschko squares off against Sultan Ibragimov.

Prediction: Klitschko has all the athletic skills needed at this time to dominate the rather moribund heavyweight division. He is tall, has an excellent left jab and when he connects with his right cross, well, he hits like a mule. That said, the semi-awkward southpaw WBO titleholder Ibragimov is a fade away artist that can cause problems. It has been a while since anyone has really tested Klitschko’s chin and maybe Sultan is the guy. Nevertheless, I’m picking Klitschko to score a late round TKO by simply grinding away and busting up the WBO champ with long left hands and enough scalding right crosses to end matters in the 9th round. Wladimir isn’t pretty but he is effective and until someone comes along to take his crown he remains The Man.
